Born Again
By: Daniel Adams
That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again. — John 3:6-7
In the New Covenant, every born-again child of God has the Spirit of God in them. First, they are born of the Spirit. Then they can be filled with and led by the Holy Spirit.
Born of the Spirit. Man is a triune being that is composed of spirit (the real you), soul (mind and will), and body (your earth suit). The spirit of man is the part of man which is born again. The Christian spirit has the eternal life and nature of God in it. The inward man is born of God’s Spirit and has the Spirit of God in him.
Filled with that Spirit. The born-again Christian can be filled with that same Spirit which he already has in him. And when he is filled with that Spirit, there will be an overflowing of that Spirit. He will speak with other tongues as the Holy Spirit gives him utterance (Acts 2:4).
Led by the Spirit. “For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.” Even the born-again one who has not been filled with the Spirit has the Spirit of God abiding in him — and he can expect to be led and guided by the Holy Spirit.
Confession: I am a child of God. I am born of the Spirit of God. The Spirit of God leads me and guides me. He is leading me now. He will give illumination to my mind through my born-again spirit. He will give direction to my spirit. I am being led by the Spirit of God.
