Covenant Blessings
By: Daniel Adams
Exodus 23:25-26 (AMP) 25 You shall serve the Lord your God; He shall bless your bread and water, and I will take sickness from your midst. 26 None shall lose her young by miscarriage or be barren in your land; I will fulfill the number of your days.
As long as Israel walked in the covenant that God made with them, there was no sickness among them. There is no record of anyone dying prematurely as long as they kept the covenant. With sickness taken away from the midst of them, they lived their whole lives without disease, and then they just fell asleep in death when it was their time. When it was time for them to go, they would lay hands on their children, pronounce blessings upon them, gather their feet up into bed, and go home.
You might ask what does that have to do with us today? The Bible tells us that God is the same yesterday, today, and forever. God is the same today just as He was then! God was against sin in the Old Testament (Old Covenant), and God is against sin in the New Testament (New Covenant). The reason God is against sin is because He loves people and sin destroys people's lives. God was against sickness in the Old Testament — and God is against sickness in the New Testament. God made provision for healing in the Old Testament — and God has made provision for healing in the New Testament!
Confession: I love Jesus and serve him as a New Covenant believer. Jesus has taken sickness away from me and I walk in divine life. If the Lord prolongs His coming, I will fulfil and live out all of the days of my life and I will not die prematurely in Jesus name!
