Jesus Had Exciting Meetings
By: Daniel Adams
John 21:25 (KJV) 25 And there are also many other things which Jesus did, the which, if they should be written every one, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that should be written.
In the very last verse in John's Gospel, he tells us that Jesus did so many miracles that if they were all written down he supposed that the world itself would not be able to contain the books. This is an incredible statement because it shows us that all of the many miracles that are contained in the gospels are only a small sample size in comparison to all of the miracles that Jesus actually performed. When I get to heaven, I want to pull the virtual reality clips, or whatever technology they have (which I',m sure is beyond anything we've ever seen) and I want to see all of the other miracles that Jesus did! Wouldn't that be amazing!
If I were one of the disciples who got to walk with Jesus, I would sleep with one eye open because I wouldn't want to miss any of the miracles that Jesus was doing. It was miracles at breakfast, miracles at lunch, miracles at dinner, and miracles everywhere in between!
Matthew 11:2-5 (KJV) 2 Now when John had heard in the prison the works of Christ, he sent two of his disciples, 3 And said unto him, Art thou he that should come, or do we look for another? 4 Jesus answered and said unto them, Go and shew John again those things which ye do hear and see: 5 The blind receive their sight, and the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, and the deaf hear, the dead are raised up, and the poor have the gospel preached to them.
When John the Baptist was in prison, he was questioning if he fulfilled his assignment to prepare the way for the messiah and so he sent some of his disciples to Jesus to ask if he was the one. Notice, that this was on a random day at a random time. Jesus didn't tell them he was the Messiah, instead, he told them to go tell John what they hear and see. What were they hearing and seeing? They were hearing the Good News of the Kingdom of Heaven and they were seeing miracles and people being supernaturally healed. The message and miracles were a validation that Jesus was sent by God and that he was anointed by the Holy Spirit.
I can imagine that if Jesus's supernatural ministry was today, the disciples' social media feeds would be constantly flooded with footage of Jesus opening blind eyes, Jesus feeding multitudes with a little boy's lunch, Jesus causing arms and legs to grow where people didn't have them before, Jesus walking on waters, and so many more miracles. Can you imagine how every post would go viral? Can you imagine how this would grab national media attention? No wonder the Bible tells us in Luke 4:37 that Jesus became famous as His supernatural ministry was just getting started.
John 16:7 (AMP)...I tell you the truth, it is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper (Comforter, Advocate, Intercessor—Counselor, Strengthener, Standby) will not come to you; but if I go, I will send Him (the Holy Spirit) to you [to be in close fellowship with you].
As amazing as it must have been to walk with Jesus, He made the astounding statement that it's better that he go away so that the Holy Spirit would come to us. Then Jesus declared in John 14:12 that the miracles that he did, we will do also and even greater. This is hard to fathom, but Jesus isn't a liar. Jesus is our example and he showed us what is possible with a life that is fully sold out to the call of God and fully yielded to the Holy Spirit. I don't know about you, but this challenges me to want a deeper walk with the Holy Spirit so that I can embark on the adventures of God daily and see the wondrous greater works that Jesus spoke of in the here and now!
Confession: Jesus was anointed with the Holy Spirit and power. I am anointed with the Holy Spirit and power. Jesus preached the Gospel of the Kingdom, he healed the sick, he cast out devils, and he performed miracles. Jesus said I can do the same and greater. Today, I make the decision to have a deeper relationship with the Holy Spirit and press into God's plan and purpose like never before to see his miracle-working power flow through my life to bless others and show that Jesus is alive!
