Stay Teachable
By: Daniel Adams
Date:
August 29, 2022

2 Timothy 3:16 (KJV) 16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness.

Many Christians believe that because they are born again that that is everything and they are set for life because of this one truth. However, when you received eternal life, that is just the beginning. As a child grows physically, they become less dependent on their parents. They also developed mentally by learning new things which continues into adulthood. It's the same with the things of God. Many have been stunted in their spiritual growth because of religion and pride.

Staying teachable is the acknowledgment that you don’t know everything and that you are dependent on the Word of God and the Spirit of God to live this life. Matthew 4:4 says, “.....Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God." God's Word is like a mirror that shows what is inside of us and our true condition. Humility allows you to see things the way they really are. You can’t expect God to move in your life or bring revelation while operating in pride. Pride will cause you to be blind spiritually. Pride is what got Lucifer kicked out of heaven and is now known as the prince of darkness, or you could say the price of ignorance as darkness and ignorance are synonymous. God resists the proud but gives grace to the humble.

Jesus is our example. He didn't come announcing His title or bragging. He showed us how to walk in love and humility. As Christ is so are we in this world. Apply the Word of God to that situation and be changed today. Regardless of your age, race, or status, you must be teachable. As we walk in humility we are positioned to receive revelation and we are able to access God's grace in our lives.

Confession: Thank you God for giving me grace. I humble myself before you today. I have a teachable spirit and possess the nature and character of Jesus Christ. As Jesus is so am I in this world!
