The Blessing
By: Daniel Adams
The blessing of the Lord brings [true] riches, And He adds no sorrow to it [for it comes as a blessing from God]. — Proverbs 10:22
When we study God’s Word, we find that when God’s blessing hits someone's life, they are made extremely rich in every area. It’s God’s will to bless his children to have more than enough.
As with all of God’s promises, his prosperity comes as we are obedient to the principles that he lays out in His Word. Isaiah 1:19 says that “If you are willing and obedient, you shall eat the good of the land.”
“Behold, I have received a command to bless; He has blessed, and I cannot reverse it.” (Numbers 23:20 NKJV)
The devil doesn’t like to see God’s children blessed. This is why sometimes he will try to use people to reverse what God has done, but once God blesses someone, there is nothing that the enemy can do about it.
“Behold, I set before you this day a blessing and a curse — The blessing if you obey the commandments of the Lord your God which I command you this day.” (Deuteronomy 11:26-27 AMP)
Jesus died on the cross, but we must accept the free gift of salvation and be born again (see John 3) to receive eternal life. It’s no different with God’s prosperity. God has instructed us to operate in line with His Word in order to access His blessings in our lives.
“Praise the Lord ! Blessed is the man who fears the Lord, Who delights greatly in His commandments. His descendants will be mighty on earth; The generation of the upright will be blessed. Wealth and riches will be in his house, And his righteousness endures forever.” (Psalms 112:1-3 NKJV)
When we talk about the fear of the Lord, it’s important to realize that there is a fear that the enemy brings, but there is a vast difference between this type of fear and the fear of the Lord. When we talk about the fear of the Lord— we are not talking about being frightened of something like watching a scary movie, we are talking about reverence and honor for who He is and what He has done in our lives. When Jesus becomes our Lord, we are to live in such a way to please Him and walk in His ways and love.
“I call heaven and earth to witness this day against you that I have set before you life and death, the blessings and the curses; therefore choose life, that you and your descendants may live. And may love the Lord your God, obey His voice, and cling to Him. For He is your life and the length of your days, that you may dwell in the land which the Lord swore to give to your fathers, to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.” (Deuteronomy 30:19-20 AMP)
In this passage, God gives us a multiple choice with only two answers, and then He goes on to tell us which answer to choose. God loves us so much that he wants us to choose life over death and blessing over the curse. God not only has the ability to bless you, but he is willing to bless the socks off of those who simply say “YES” to His blessing and walk in His ways. Will you say “YES” today?
“Taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the one who takes refuge in him.” (Psalm 34:9 NIV)
Throughout the scriptures, there are numerous examples of people that God has blessed. As you will see God is not only interested in meeting your needs, He is very rich and when He blesses, it’s beyond what you can imagine.
When God blessed Abraham, He made him extremely wealthy. Genesis 13:2 says, “he was rich in cattle, silver, and gold.” The Bible records that he had over 300 servants who were trained warriors.
When God blessed Solomon the Bible says that he surpasses all the kings of the earth in riches and wisdom. He sat on a throne of ivory, had a golden footstool, and counted among his asset 4,000 stalls for horses and chariots, and 1,200 horsemen. 2 Chronicles 9:27 says, “Solomon brought so much money into Jerusalem that silver became like common stones.“ Can you imagine piles of silver laying around the city of Jerusalem?
When God blessed Job the Bible says, “ he has 7,000 sheep 3,000 camels, 500 female donkeys, and such a great body of servants that he was called the greatest of all of the men in the East. This was all before Satan tempted him and the Bible says that after Satan tempted hiM for a short season, God gave him double what he had before.
The list goes on and on. We could look at Isaac, Jacob, Joseph, and King David. Every one of these men was incredibly wealthy because of God’s blessing.
“Finally, be ye all of one mind, having compassion one of another, love as brethren, be pitiful, be courteous: Not rendering evil for evil, or railing for railing: but contrariwise blessing; knowing that ye are thereunto called, that ye should inherit a blessing.“ (1 Peter 3:8-9 KJV)
Confession: I declare that I am a child of God. He loves me. My Heavenly Father supplies all my needs according to His riches in glory. It is His will that I prosper in every area of my life and that I lack no good thing. Whatever I do prospers and succeeds because He is with me. Because I fear (reverence) the Lord and delight in God’s commands, I am blessed and my descendants are mighty in God and blessed. My family is blessed. Wealth and riches are in my house. Because of Jesus, I have right-standing with God forever. I have light (revelation, wisdom and understanding) in the darkness. I am gracious to all and full of compassion. I am a very giving person—I am blessed so I can bless others. I am a prosperous Christian!
